Abviris Deutschland GmbH has been awarded “Pilot of the Year“ by the UK Diagnostics Summit 2019. This prestigious award was presented at the summit on 28 November 2019 in Manchester.
High-ranking representatives of the National Health Service (NHS), diagnostics industry and the British IVD Association (BIVDA) honoured the results of a pilot study into the early detection of cancer in HIV positive patients.
Developed by Abviris, the Prevo-Check® rapid test allows clinicians to diagnose HPV-induced cancers such as head and neck tumours and anogenital carcinomas early.
The study entered for the award has been conducted by the German Competence Network for HIV/AIDS under the direction of Prof. Brockmeyer and Dr. Skaletz-Rorowski. The aim was to determine the diagnostic value of the Prevo-Check® rapid test for HIV positive patients. Results are remarkable: with the help of Prevo-Check® patients with anal carcinoma would have been identified 9.5 months earlier.
